The Challenge

The cost of living crisis was top of everyone’s minds, and as with all our clients, Livability needed us to strike a balance taking into account their donors’ situations as well as their beneficiaries. Livability had calculated the likely rise in energy costs across the organisation, nation-wide, so we chose this as a tangible straightforward figure we could use.

Together with the charity, we decided on our focus for the appeal: supporting the wellbeing and inclusion of their clients, and maintaining Livability’s exceptionally high standards through the crisis, and we set about interviewing our case studies.

The Result

Less than a month later, the mailing and emails went out, and the landing page was live. We opted for a 4pp letter format with no lift, to reflect and respect the economic situation. This option gave us room for the signatory to thank supporters for their help during the most recent Covid crisis, to put the case with warmth and authority, and to let Debbie’s confident voice ring out from the pack as well.

What we’re most proud of

The client had originally briefed at the end of May, but for reasons beyond their control, their original case studies became unavailable a few weeks into the project. We pride ourselves on our agility at Great Appeal, and our ability to smooth the way for our clients whatever crisis erupts. So 24 hours later we were firmly on our new path, and with strong design and copy, the appeal landed successfully and in good time.
