The Process

For Christmas 2019, Refuge and we delivered the charity's best ever performing appeal, both offline and online.

We took the opportunity to review and improve the Refuge Virtual Gifts and Parcels catalogue and online marketing, and to link the products seamlessly with a strong and emotive direct mail appeal.

So as Christmas 2020 came around, after what had been a hugely demanding year for women and children locked down with their perpetrators, we were eager to help Refuge again.

The Result

The charity was excellent in providing us with content, and we provided a range of concepts for them to share with all the relevant stakeholders.

It made sense for the Helpline to be the main focus for the 2020 appeal, and even though it went to print as England went into its second lockdown, we stayed agile together, adapting the appeal to cater for all eventualities.

As the DM pack landed and supporters gave, the Virtual Gifts and Parcels were advertised online, and again the support’s been amazing.

What we’re most proud of

The 2019 appeal had given us a great opportunity to forge a strong relationship with Refuge’s excellent fundraising team, and also to revise the online Virtual Gifts and Parcels offers.

That meant there was a good, solid foundation on which to build in 2020, in spite of the Refuge team being dispersed and working from home. Good ol’ Zoom...

But most of all, we’re proud to have played our part in promoting Refuge’s lifesaving Helpline and keeping it funded for women to call 24/7.
